An oil portrait sketch is a head and shoulder painting, 20
x 16 or 18 x 14, where the subject's spirit and likeness is
finely captured on canvas but the clothes and back ground
are loosely suggested. It is a fun, light and less expensive
alternative to a formal, fully rendered larger portrait.
If the subject chooses to pose for a short sitting (2-3 hours),
it is an added bonus, as the subject can see the early development
of the portrait sketch, all the while observing and learning
about the development stages. Photos of the subject and pose
are taken to serve are references for the completion of the
oil sketch.
Feel free to contact the artist for more information, pricing
and scheduling. To see samples of portrait sketches, see my
portrait
sketch blog.
